Tooth Replacement Options
After having a tooth removed, we want to help you restore your smile back to its former beauty with dental bridges, dentures, or dental implants

Dental Implants
Dental implants are artificial teeth, from root to tip. They are composed of three parts, a metal implant that acts as the root, a porcelain crown to restore the look and bite of your tooth, and an abutment that connects them together. If you don’t have enough supporting bone for the implant, a bone graft may be needed to strengthen your jaw.

Dental Bridges
Dental bridges replace one to four missing teeth in a row by attaching a single prosthetic to the two teeth on either side of the gap left behind. This prosthetic piece is made of a porcelain crown on each end and the proper number of teeth needing replacing connected between them. The crowns are sealed onto the remaining neighbor teeth, which are shaved down to fit them, and the false teeth bridge the gap to create a neat row of perfect and natural-looking teeth.

Removable Dentures
Removable dentures can replace anything from as few as a single tooth to a full mouth of missing teeth. These prosthetics are made of a gum-pink acrylic base and a natural-looking resin, allowing them to blend in perfectly with the rest of your smile. We craft them perfectly to fit your mouth, meaning that your dentures, whether partial or complete, will stay in place even without adhesive. With partials, we can also add metal clasps for extra security.

Types of Teeth Extraction
Whether you need a simple or surgical extraction, you’re in good hands with our Riverside dentists
What is tooth extraction exactly? There are two different methods of removing your teeth: simple and surgical extractions. A simple extraction is performed to remove teeth that are erupted from the gums and are completely visible. In this procedure, a tool called an elevator loosens the teeth and dental forceps then pull the tooth from the mouth. Simple extractions are often performed on teeth that are badly decayed or are crowding a mouth and making orthodontic work impossible. Surgical extraction is performed when teeth haven't fully emerged
from the gum - either they are impacted or have broken beneath the gum line - your dentist can’t easily reach them. Instead, we must create a small incision in the gums to access the tooth. From there, it’s easy for our oral surgeons to remove the tooth. Surgical extraction is an extremely common solution for impacted wisdom tooth removal. No matter which procedure you need, we promise that it will be totally painless for you. We use safe and strong dental anesthetic to fully numb the area around your teeth, ensuring that you’ll feel little to no discomfort throughout your teeth extraction.

What does tooth extraction cost?
There’s no single price when it comes to your dental extraction. Your cost depends on a number of factors: how many teeth are being pulled, which teeth are needed, what type of extraction will be performed, and if an immediate replacement will be added, such as an implant or denture. If you have any questions about financing your upcoming procedure, call our Riverside dental office at (951) 688-6000 to schedule a consultation with us today.
-
Does tooth extraction hurt?
While extractions might have a fearsome reputation, our caring dentists make sure yours is always completely painless. We use dental-grade local anesthetic to fully numb the tooth, gums, and surrounding tissue. This way, you feel little to no discomfort at all and only some light pressure as we work.
-
When should a tooth be extracted?
Pulling a tooth is only a dentist’s last resort because we always want to preserve as much of your natural smile as we can. We will only extract your tooth if a tooth or gum infection has progressed to the point where the tooth can’t be saved, an impacted wisdom tooth threatens the health of its neighboring teeth, or if overcrowding makes it impossible for you to receive proper orthodontic treatment.
-
What happens if you never get your wisdom teeth pulled out?
Contrary to popular belief, not all wisdom teeth need to be removed. When a wisdom tooth is clear to emerge safely and healthily, we leave it be without any unfortunate effects. However, if the tooth is impacted or poses a threat to the rest of your teeth, an extraction will be highly recommended. This prevents the tooth decay, gum disease, or physical damage that could eventually happen if left untreated.
-
What happens if you don't replace an extracted tooth?
We highly recommend that you never leave a missing tooth alone without a proper replacement. When a gap is left between teeth, the jawbone beneath begins to weaken and deteriorate, and the neighboring teeth begin to sink into the empty space. Not only does this cause unsightly gaps between more of your teeth, but your teeth become more at risk for developing decay and infection. At worst, it can lead to further extractions.
-
What is the best option for replacing missing teeth?
The most effective tooth replacement option we offer is a dental implant. An implant is a fully artificial tooth that behaves just as your original tooth did. Unlike a dental bridge and dentures, an implant replaces the root of the tooth by surgically attaching a metal post to the jaw. This prevents bone loss, keeps your jaw stronger, and doesn’t require any extra pressure on neighboring teeth to keep the implant fixed in place.
