Super Gentle Dental Cleaning in Riverside, CA
Cleaning & Exams, Riverside, California
Flossing and brushing your teeth are great, but they don't get rid of all of the plaque and bacteria that have been slowly working to wear down your tooth’s enamel. Regular dental hygiene appointments every 6 months are needed, too. At Gold Coast Dental Riverside, our gentle and affordable dental cleanings remove any buildup on your teeth and below your gums to keep your smile in peak health. During your cleaning, your dental hygienist will scrape away any bacteria, plaque, or tartar buildup on your teeth. We know that this might be a bit nerve-wracking, especially for patients who’ve fallen behind in their oral hygiene routine recently, but rest assured that our dentists and hygienists are gentle with your smile. Should we need to go a little deeper to clear away buildup beneath your gums, we’ll use a numbing agent to soothe your tender gums as we make your teeth squeaky clean.
Your appointment will also include an exam of your mouth, both with digital scans and our thorough dentists’ keen eyes, to ensure your teeth and gums are happy and healthy. While a cleaning may stop potential dental problems in their tracks, they can’t prevent ones that have already developed. If anything appears in our findings, our dentists will make sure you get the caring and attentive dental care you need. It’s time to get your smile back into shape with a dental cleaning! Call our Riverside office at (951) 688-6000 to schedule yours today.

6 Daily oral hygiene tips for a Healthy Smile!
Go Electric
Going electric with your toothbrush ensures that you always use the right technique when brushing your teeth, preventing tooth decay much more effectively than your normal manual toothbrush does. Some also come with sensors to tell you when you’re using too much pressure.
Two Minutes
Giving your teeth a quick pass when brushing your teeth isn’t enough to prevent developing a tooth cavity. You should brush your teeth for 2 minutes to ensure each tooth gets the proper attention it needs. Some electric toothbrushes have built-in timers to make this easy to do.
Floss Like a boss
Brushing your teeth isn’t enough alone. You must also floss every day to remove the plaque trapped between your teeth. This is essential for preventing tooth decay and cavities, which would eventually lead to costly procedures like a crown, root canal, or tooth extraction.
Double Up
Attending your regular dental hygiene appointment every 6 months is crucial for keeping your teeth in top condition. Patients with a long history of cavities and dental work may be recommended to come into our dental clinic every 3 or 4 months to ensure everything’s in order.
Drink Water
Drinking water after meals rinses away sugar, starches, and food left on your teeth, preventing bacteria and plaque from building up so easily. And gross as it is, water also helps your mouth produce saliva, which is the body’s way of breaking down food and fighting off cavities.
Tasty Treats
Limit the number of sweets, desserts, junk food, and other fun treats as much as you can. They may taste great, but they can be killer on your teeth. Sugars and starches make it easier for plaque and bacteria to form and begin wearing away at your teeth’s enamel.
Follow-Up Treatments
If we find something during your dental exam, our caring dentists make sure you get the proper treatment you need to restore your smile back to full health
Sometimes cavities and gingivitis can happen. We understand. If we find anything during your exam appointment, our dedicated and talented dental team will come up with the right treatment plan for you to get your smile’s health back into shape. Some follow-up treatments for tooth decay and cavities may include: tooth filling, tooth crown, root canal, tooth extraction. Possible treatments for gingivitis and gum disease: deep cleaning, gum flap surgery, gum and bone grafts, guided tissue regeneration, tooth extraction.
No matter which procedure you may need, we’ll make sure you’re never in any pain or stress. At Gold Coast Dental Riverside, we pride ourselves in our painless and gentle dental care. How does poor oral health affect health?
Bad cavities, gum disease, and other serious dental issues don’t just stop at your mouth when left untreated too long. Tooth and gum infections especially have been known to increase the risk of heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, pneumonia, and even complications during pregnancy. By taking good care of your teeth and getting quick and responsive treatment when problems do arise, you can have a much easier time of maintaining great overall health.
-
How often should you get a deep cleaning?
For patients with advanced gum disease, a deep cleaning is often needed periodically to keep their gum infection at bay. This may mean that they receive a deep cleaning as often as they schedule regular dental cleanings, which may be every 3 or 4 months due to their chronic dental health problems.
-
Does periodontal cleaning hurt?
Deep cleanings are not painful at all. Although we will be going a little deeper than your standard dental cleaning, our hygienists are gentle with your teeth and gums, and we use local anesthetic to keep your gums comfortable and numb so you won’t feel a thing as we work.
-
Does dental cleaning loosen teeth?
Your dental cleaning will not loosen any teeth. For some patients with poor oral health and bad cavities, however, they may find that their teeth feel looser because that looseness was already there. It had only been hidden by a large amount of plaque, bacteria, and tartar buildup trapped between their teeth and gums. Removing that buildup gives their teeth a little more room to shift around.
-
How long does a dental exam take?
Dental exams and cleaning appointments usually take between 30 to 45 minutes to complete. This appointment may be extended if other treatments are needed. For example, a deep cleaning may require two separate visits for an additional 45 to 60 minutes each, and a teeth whitening session may extend your appointment another 30 or 60 minutes depending on the treatment you choose.
-
Can you floss after a deep cleaning?
For the first 12 hours after your deep cleaning, you shouldn’t floss or brush your teeth as your gums may be sensitive. However, after that brief window, it is very important that you floss and maintain great oral hygiene to allow your mouth to fully heal from the damage caused by plaque and bacteria buildup beneath your gums.
